Taiwan’s Gogoro is set to revolutionize the electric scooter market in India with its innovative battery swapping technology.
The Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus models have already been homologated in India and come equipped with advanced tech features.
With plans to develop a large network of battery swapping stations across the country, Gogoro is poised to lower acquisition costs and eliminate range anxiety for electric scooter users. Learn more about Gogoro’s aggressive plans for the Indian market in this article.

Gogoro, Taiwan’s leading provider of EV battery swapping infrastructure, is gearing up to launch its electric scooters in the Indian market.
The company has already received homologation for its Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus models, which are expected to hit Indian roads soon.
With aggressive plans to expand its battery swapping network, Gogoro could be a game-changer in the Indian electric two-wheeler space, eliminating range anxiety and lowering acquisition costs for users.
Gogoro’s electric scooters have been approved and certified by the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) for the Indian market.
While the Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus models have a range of 85 km and 94 km, respectively, as per the type approval certificate, the company’s Indian website shows a range of 170 km for both models.
It is possible that homologation has been done based on a single battery setup, and Gogoro may have introduced some changes in line with local riding needs.
Both models have a gross vehicle weight of 273 kg and are equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack.

The scooters have a sporty, minimalistic design with advanced tech features such as bio-authentication via fingerprint, face-ID, and Siri voice command. Other highlights include auto weather mode, one-click reverse, carbon belt system for silent operations, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
The scooters have a sporty digital instrument screen with a range of connectivity features.
Gogoro is working with multiple entities to develop its battery swapping infrastructure in India, similar to what it has done in Taiwan and other global markets.
While battery swapping has the advantage of allowing users to fuel up in under 10 seconds, it will take time for Gogoro to develop a large network of swapping stations in India. Earlier this year, Gogoro announced a partnership with Belrise Industries in Maharashtra to invest a 50:50 venture fund worth US$2.5 billion over the next eight years.
The partnership will focus on areas like EV manufacturing, battery swapping infrastructure development, smart mobility sharing, smart agriculture, and distributed energy storage.
